Recreational Running
Spring Season: 8 Week Program
March 11th to May 2nd, 2026
Lightning is open to the whole community and offers the opportunity to train with the running program regardless of age or running level. Running is for everyone and should be fun and enjoyable, especially for youth. We have runners who start by becoming walkers, then move into joggers, competitive runners, and elite runners. Developing a youth runner is a mental, physical, and developmental growth process.
In most cases, recreational runners train on selected days that are not intensive. We work with the city of Santa Ana Parks and Recreation to teach basic running skills and provide mental health methods such as breathing, guided imagery, and other techniques.
If interested in joining this program, please register through the City of Santa Ana Civic Rec and create an account. At this time, we are promoting this program at Jerome Center on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Fridays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Participants will be able to train and run local track meets (4/19/26) and Kids Run the OC on May 2, 2026. A free training shirt is included. Please register through the City of Santa Civic Rec.
