*Please Note: Camping is for youth runners and their family members and this year is open to the general public.

Please note that this country season, camping is mandatory for all runners. Lightning works with Camp Morning Star to provide a nature-based experience for runners and their families, allowing them to train in high altitude. At camp, runners get in shape in high altitude, bond with their teammates, and have fun participating in activities such as watching movies under the stars, doing skits, swimming in the pool, archery, arts and crafts and more.

What Runners and Families Get!

  • RUNNING

    Running and training is at 6,500 feet of high altitude training in Angelus Oaks, next town to Big Bear.

    Runners will run and train at a 800 meter loop camp. There will be some days that runners will be running two times per day to obtain optimal running conditioning in high altitude.

    Runners will be placed in a group based on chronological age, running abilities, experience and conditioning.

    Runners will be running on a 800 meter trail loop and includes running on dirt, up-hills and down-hills.

  • ACTIVITIES

    Runners:

    Runners will be involved in active running games, mindfulness activities and arts and crafts. Runners will be involved in discussion groups to enrich their learning with running.

    Parents:

    Parents will be involved in workshops to learn positive parenting methods to support their runners.

    RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

    -Movie under the stars

    -Skits (role play) for team bonding based on age.

    SPORTS ACTIVITIES AT CAMP

    -Learn basic running skills such as stretches, drills, and running mindset.
